The hospital and health care system is Louisville’s fourth largest employer and provides medical care at more than 250 locations throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The Norton Healthcare system includes:

COVID-19 Crisis

Everyone is reeling with the COVID-19 pandemic right now, and the healthcare profession is one of the industries being hit the hardest. Since all non-emergency, non-urgent in-person medical, surgical and other healthcare practices or procedures have been ordered to cease effective March 18, 2020, Norton Healthcare has figured out alternative ways to help out their patients.

Norton eCare

There are two Norton eCare options to treat minor illnesses for patients two-years-old and older — you can have a video visit with a provider or an eVisit. Both options are available 24/7. For the video visit, you can make an appointment and visit with a Norton eCare provider. You will talk with a provider through a secure online video chat. These visits are billed to your insurance — just like an in-person office visit. (If you are experiencing symptoms that could be COVID-19 related, video visits are a great way to talk to a doctor without leaving your home and possibly exposing yourself to others.)

If you schedule an eVisit, you will fill out an online survey so the doctor knows what’s going on with you and your symptoms. Then a Norton eCare provider will call you on the phone within eight to 10 hours. The eVisit is a flat $40 fee.

Norton Telehealth Appointments With Your Provider

Many Norton Healthcare providers have expanded their offices’ telehealth capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can schedule Telehealth appointments with your primary care provider or your specialist. These are “virtual visits” that let you visit securely, face to face, with your provider. Telehealth appointments are great for follow-up appointments and routine check-ins without risking exposure.

Contributions to the Louisville Community

Norton Healthcare also contributes much to the local community. They provide funding for many services that benefit the public, including charity care and unpaid Medicaid costs for patients who can’t afford health care.

And their charitable contributions don’t stop there! Their employees also contribute to the community. Each year employees donate tens of thousands of hours of community service, a benefit valued at more than $1 million. Other areas of support include:
